Gloriana Sandoval Loría is a Costa Rican photographer and art director. In 2011, she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from Universidad Veritas. Since then, she has been focused on art direction for both commercial and personal projects. Combining her education and experience in photography with her knowledge and skills in art and design, she is dedicated to creating visual solutions that meet the aesthetic goals of each project.
Portraits, non-places, and mockumentary are recurring themes in her photographic practice, allowing her to delve into the representation of human identity, the way the surroundings influences it, and the creation of fictional stories and situations with a realistic appearance.
Her work has been exhibited in several group exhibitions, including "San José: Ciudad Invisible" (2010), "Imagen en Construcción" (2011), "Inter-Secciones" at the Alianza Francesa (2013), and "Colectiva 02" at Galería La Central (2014). Additionally, she received honorable mentions in the "Photo Essay and Feature Story" category at the International Photography Awards (IPA) in 2013.
Recently, she has expanded her practice to include cooking as an artistic medium, allowing her to explore and communicate concepts, emotions, and sensory experiences through food. This new direction led to her work being published on the back cover of the magazine "DIY Decadence by Bompass & Parr" (2020).
